Experience
Fisheries
During my placement year with the Marine Resources team in Jersey, I gained hands-on experience across fisheries patrols, scientific research, and environmental monitoring. Working in a small, dynamic team allowed me to contribute to technical reporting, support a local PhD project through video analysis, and assist with heavy metal sampling. The role sharpened both my field skills and analytical capabilities in a real-world conservation setting.
Surveys
Over the past few years, I’ve taken part in a wide range of ecological surveys — from intertidal and pollution assessments during my studies to marine mammal and seabird monitoring off the southwest coast of England. Internationally, I’ve contributed to marine megafauna surveys in the Maldives and snorkelling-based projects focused on removing invasive species, supporting the health and resilience of marine ecosystems.
Research
Research has been a core part of my academic and professional journey. I’ve explored microplastic pollution in Jersey’s coastal waters during my BSc, and seasonal trends in local crustacean populations for my MSc thesis. More recently, I’ve contributed to a synthesis report on the South-East Coast Ramsar Site and helped launch a long-term monitoring programme for key species. These projects have strengthened my skills in research design, data analysis, and scientific communication.
Outdoor Adventure
Over the past five years, I’ve led a variety of outdoor adventure activities — from climbing and coasteering to foraging, bushcraft, and paddle sports — for participants of all ages and abilities. At Wild Adventures, I developed strong group management and communication skills, adapting sessions to changing conditions and diverse audiences to ensure safe, engaging, and educational experiences.
Other
Alongside my conservation work, I’ve built complementary skills through a range of roles. In administration at a medical practice, I developed strong organisational and problem-solving abilities, working with precision, discretion, and team coordination.
With over a decade of swim teaching experience, I’ve taught learners of all ages and abilities — leading both group sessions and one-to-one coaching — honing my communication, adaptability, and confidence-building skills.
I also hold an RYA Intermediate Powerboat qualification (working toward Advanced with commercial endorsement) and have operated safety boats for sailing clubs, patrols, and outdoor education trips, strengthening my on-water leadership and vessel handling capabilities.
